We made it, y’all! The Carolina Panthers 2021 season opener is just one day away, so today’s countdown piece is devoted to the biggest name to ever wear the No. 1 jersey in the Carolinas: Cam Newton.

There is, as there always is, a lot going on around Cam in the media right now. As always, some of that attention is on him and some if it is on others. This is the story of Cam that we’ve always known and we have no need to dwell on that right now.

Let’s focus on the story of the Newton that was the greatest quarterback to ever suit up for the Carolina Panthers. For nine years, Newton drew more eyes to Charlotte than in any other period in franchise history. His career here saw a 68-55-1 record fueled by 2371 completions on 3980 pass attempts. Those completions went for 29041 yards, 182 touchdowns, and 108 interceptions. He added to that in his signature style with 934 rushing attempts for 4806 yards and 58 touchdowns.

Stats tell only the half the story of Newton’s career in the Carolinas. From dazzling highlights to hilariously underwhelming supporting casts, no year and no game with Cam Newton in a Panthers jersey was done justice by the box score. Share your favorite story in the comments.
