Update: The full deal is a 5-year, $85 million contract that keeps Moton with the Panthers through 2025.
Clarifying this slightly: Extension isn't the most accurate way to describe this deal. 5-year, $85 million contract.

According to multiple sources, including the team itself, the Carolina Panthers have agree to an extension with right tackle Taylor Moton. Accodring to Adam Schefter, the deal will be a four year extension worth a total of $72 million, including $43 million guaranteed. The team had previously franchise tagged Moton. Teams and franchised players had until 4pm today to finalize long term deals, and the Panthers got their deal done just in time.
The deal averages $18 million per season, which puts Moton just outside the top five highest paid offensive linemen on a per year basis. It also ties him for the second highest paid right tackle per season, just behind Saints stalwart Ryan Ramczyk and even with the Eagles’ Lane Johnson. The $43 million guaranteed portion of the new contract also matches Ramczyk and is top three in terms of total guaranteed money for an offensive lineman. We don’t yet know the full breakdown of the deal, so it is unclear how this deal will affect this year’s salary cap. Moton had been on the books for just over $13 million on the franchise tag. We will update the story as more details are released.
