Panthers vs Raiders injury report: Dennis Daley ruled out for season opener with ankle injury

Dennis Daley will miss the season opener against the Raiders, and Michael Schofield will start in his place.

The Panthers will play their Week 1 game against the Raiders without starting left guard Dennis Daley, who has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Veteran lineman Michael Schofield will start in his place. Daley’s absence isn’t much of a surprise since he didn’t practice at all this week, and it’s probably best they don’t rush him into action before he’s ready to go anyway. I’m sure Schofield will do a fine enough job in his stead this week, so there shouldn’t be much reason for alarm at this point in time.

The Panthers had a long list of players on the injury report this week, but fortunately Daley is the only player who has been ruled out for Sunday’s game. Only two players were listed as questionable — defensive end Stephen Weatherly and cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver III — both due to hamstring injuries. Please bear in mind that questionable is the new probable since the league made changes to how teams report injuries a few years ago, so Weatherly and Thomas-Oliver should be able to suit up this weekend if needed.

No players from the Raiders were ruled out for Sunday, so they should be pretty healthy heading into the season opener.
