The 2020 Carolina Panthers will look nothing like the 2019 Carolina Panthers, especially on offense. A new coaching staff, a new quarterback, and an entirely new approach should lead to one of the most exciting Panthers offenses in recent memory. In typical Panthers fashion, the offensive line could be anywhere between “just good enough” and “total dumpster fire,” but the offensive skill players are far and away the most talented the team has had in a while.
The offense will, and should, start and end with Christian McCaffrey, both on the ground and through the air. RUN CMC was dominant last season, and, though he should probably take at least a few plays off each game, the football should find its way into his hands on a regular basis. On the outside, the Panthers have playmakers DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel returning and picked up Robbie Anderson in free agency. This well-rounded group should give Teddy Bridgewater plenty of options short, intermediate, and down the field. Young tight end Ian Thomas has also shown flashes of playmaking ability, and don’t discount the discount signings of guys like Pharoh Cooper.
While this plethora of options makes the Panthers a dangerous offense, it does make predicting their individual productions a bit tough. While we know CMC will get his, how the others fit into this new scheme is yet to be seen. Hopefully we’ll be getting some insight soon now that camp is officially underway.
