Luke Kuechly may be retired as a football player, but that doesn’t necessarily mean his ties with the Carolina Panthers are cut for good. The team is reporting that their former standout linebacker is considering a job opportunity as a pro scout for the organization.

Kuechly was emotional when announcing his retirement and talked about how it wasn’t due to a lack of love for the sport. He just felt he couldn’t physically play up to the standards he set for himself. A job as a pro scout would allow Kuechly to stay engaged with the mental aspect of his job as a player without subjecting him to the physical beatings he takes on the field. Seems like a perfect match to me.
Obviously nothing is final yet, and it is a little weird that the team felt it necessary to publish a story that Kuechly is maybe thinking about considering taking a job with the team. But fingers crossed the Luke ultimately signs on.
