The Carolina Panthers have selected defensive tackle Bravvion Roy with the No. 184 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
There was pretty much a zero percent chance that the Carolina Panthers would make it through this draft without taking one of Matt Rhule’s Baylor players, and in the sixth round they pulled the trigger on Bravvion Roy. Roy is a nose tackle, and is likely to be the primary backup to Derrick Brown for this coming season. That’s a good thing, because quite frankly, the cupboard was quite bare on the defensive interior entering this draft.
Roy notched 35 tackles (14 for a loss), and 5.5 sacks last year for Rhule’s Baylor team. He’s pretty athletic as far as big men go, and its possible he could end up being a an important rotational piece to give Brown a rest this year from time to time. Following this pick, this has been an entirely defensive draft for Carolina, and we’ll see if they can make it a perfect 7 for 7 in the seventh round.
