Welcome back to the second installment of Carolina Panthers mock draft round-ups. We see many of the same names as we did yesterday from different sources. Let’s go.
Todd McShay (ESPN)
Round 1: Derrick Brown. DL, Auburn
Round 2: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
If this looks familiar, it’s because it’s the exact same two picks that McShay’s counterpart at ESPN, Mel Kiper, mocked to the Panthers in yesterday’s round-up.
Charles Davis (NFL.com)
Round 1: Derrick Brown, DL, Auburn
We’re getting the Derrick Brown picks out of the way early in these round-ups.
Daniel Jeremiah (NFL.com)
Round 1: Derrick Brown, DL, Auburn
See above.
NBC Sports
Round 1: Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson
NBC Sports dares to be different, mocking Simmons to the Panthers with Brown still on the board. Simmons’ versatility plugs a number of holes on the Panthers defense and could provide Panthers fans with a new favorite defender after Luke Kuechly’s sudden retirement.
Gary Grambling (Sports Illustrated)
Round 1: Tristan Wirfs, OL, Iowa
Talk about something different. Grambling is the only mocker to have the Panthers investing a top ten pick on their offensive line. Last year’s move up to grab Greg Little near the top of the second round and the trade for Russell Okung makes it look like the Panthers offensive line is pretty well set for the near term, but it still may be wise to look for a long term solution at tackle while the team is picking high in the draft.
Tankathon
Round 1: Derrick Brown, DL, Auburn
Round 2: Grant Delpit, S, LSU
Tankathon’s mock mirrors Walter Football’s two selections from yesterday. Brown fills a huge hole on the Panthers front line while Delpit would become the team’s first real investment in the safety position since who knows when.
