Welcome to the NFC South Tom Brady, I dislike you already

Well that didn’t take long.

Since the division realignment in 2002 I’ve spread my divisional rivalry hate around between the Carolina Panthers three divisional foes: the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Most recently the Saints have occupied the top spot and before them the Falcons. It’s been a while since the Bucs have been in the top spot in my black heart but I can feel it coming on. It has something to do with one of their free agent signings and his brilliant marketing strategy.

To be fair to myself, I begrudgingly consider Brady the GOAT NFL quarterback. He doesn’t need to do anything else to warrant the title, he has set the bar pretty damn high already. Especially considering he will be 43 years old when the 2020 season starts. The notion Brady is going to lead the Bucs to a NFL championship in two seasons maximum has ‘disaster’ written all over it.

That is what I get from the trade marking of Tompa Bay and Tampa Brady. It’s bad karma, kind of like the 2011 Eagles supposed ‘dream team’. How many times have we heard about a team ‘being one player away’ from competing for a championship? The Bucs aren’t even saying that is the target with this move but the marketing suggests otherwise. I can see them going all in on this draft as well in the hopes of making the team relevant in 2020.

Every single season I want to go 6-0 in the NFC South. At the very least we need to defend The Vault and break even at 3-3. Yet if we only win two games in the NFC South, please let it be against Tampa Bay. I’m thinking the Saints and Falcons fan bases feel the same way. Brady has no easy games against the hapless AFC East anymore. He’s got to outscore Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and the (I’m predicting) surprising Teddy Bridgewater. I’m thinking the NFC South can send the GOAT into retirement after a single season.

Tompa Bay? Tampa Brady? Give me a break...lol.

So welcome to the NFC South Tom Brady, I hate you already.
