The Panthers are preparing for the 2020 season finale against the Saints, and as expected they are practicing without running back Christian McCaffrey, Russell Okung and defensive end Brian Burns. Wide receiver Robby Anderson, cornerback Troy Pride Jr. and running back Mike Davis also did not participate. Right guard John Miller was limited in action.
Long list of DNPs for Panthers today: Christian McCaffrey, Robby Anderson, Brian Burns, Mike Davis, Russell Okung, Troy Pride, Jr, John Miller.— Joe Person (@josephperson) December 30, 2020
Anderson dealing with a groin injury.
Matt Rhule has put all speculation on McCaffrey’s status to rest by saying he will not play on Sunday. Russell Okung will also miss Sunday’s game, and Mike Davis is also expected to be out.
Matt Rhule puts an end to this one: “Christian won’t play this week.”— Bill Voth (@PanthersBill) December 30, 2020
Neither will Russell Okung.
The Panthers also don't expect running back Mike Davis to play on Sunday. So Panthers will be down to fifth LT and third running back.— David Newton (@DNewtonespn) December 30, 2020
I don’t know how many of today’s DNPs are in danger of missing Sunday’s season finale outside of those three, so we’ll have to keep an eye on them throughout the week to see how they’re trending. I know a lot of folks want the Panthers to lose on Sunday to maintain or improve their draft position (myself included), but they probably want to finish the season on a high note while helping the Saints lose out on the No. 1 seed in the NFC, so we shouldn’t expect to see any roster moves strictly for evaluation purposes on Sunday.
As always, stay tuned for injury updates throughout the week.
