Way too early 2021 mock

This has been a whirlwind of a week, and it's only Tuesday, as former GM Marty Hurney has been fired. I believe that with a new GM, as well as Tepper's comments about the QB position, that the Panthers will most likely be selecting a new QB with a top 5 pick. While I have read about Fields possibly dropping to the Panthers pick, I have an idea that more teams will try to trade up for a QB this year. As such, here is my mock:

Round 1: Trey Lance QB

  • Clearly, I want Lance. He can spread the ball downfield and has some scrambling speed. I think a year under Bridgewater can help develop Lance, as some of the best QB's in the league sat behind a veteran their first year (Mahomes is prime example).
Round 2, Round 3, Round 4: Hunter Long TE, Dylan Moses LB, Dillon Radunz OL, Andre Cisco S
  • Pick 38 and 2022 7th round traded to TB for pick 53 and pick 85: I don't think this will happen, especially among division rivals, but it was offered so why not?
  • Hunter Long is playing really well this year and is being overshadowed by Pitts, as Long has the 2nd highest number of receiving yards for TE's, with 5 TD's.
  • Dylan Moses is not going to last to pick 85 in my opinion. However, he was there and LB depth is needed for as much as the Panthers move around Chinn and probably cutting Tahir Whitehead.
  • Dillon Radnuz is an underrated OT, as he is fantastic at protecting a QB's blindside. In 2019, he didn't allow any sacks. With a possible resigned Moton, a cleaner pocket should appear.
  • Andre Cisco had a good first game but was injured for the year. Awesome strong safety who is undersized but has great ball awareness and football IQ.
Round 5 and Round 6: Tutu Atwell WR, Tyler Linderbaum C, Shaun Jolly CB
  • Traded 2022 5th round for pick 176 because I forgot to draft a CB.
  • Tutu Atwell has the speed and vertical threat to replace Curtis Samuel if Panthers are unable to resign him. Tutu excels in the slot, which I'm sure Joe Brady would love.
  • Tyler Linderbaum is expected to be drafted before the 6th round, as he can arguably be a top 100 pick as he was a former DL and then transitioned into a Center. Just needs to bulk up more. Credit where credit is due: had no clue about this guy until Goose Creek mentioned him on a previous post. Good looks boss.
  • Shaun Jolly is an explosive corner from App who had a fantastic junior year. However, he is on the smaller side and I'm sure people will question his ability to compete as App faces weaker teams.
As always, I am looking forward to hearing what other people think and ready for the combine and draft.
