Larsen is the first player the Panthers have designated to the reserve/COVID-19 list since the Atlanta Falcons announced that one of their own players tested positive earlier this week. The Panthers have said that Larsen was on the field for five snaps on special teams against the Falcons. it is unclear if he came into contact with defensive tackle Marlon Davidson, the Falcons player in question.
The Panthers’ practice facility will continue to operate under the NFL’s intensive protocol, which began Wednesday after the Falcons placed rookie defensive tackle Marlon Davidson on their reserve/COVID-19 list following the Week 5 matchup between the two teams.
The team had already taken increased precautions this week after the news about Davidsons positive test broke. So far, there have been no announcements about the forthcoming game against the Chicago Bears, scheduled for Sunday in Charlotte.
Gross-Matos, on the other hand, had relatively normal football injury. The team has said he will be out four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain. That makes him the third Panthers player this season to enter injured reserve with that injury, after Christian McCaffrey and Reggie Bonnafon. He will be eligible to return in as few as three weeks.
