When you scratch the surface on the Bears victories, you see a Bears team that has one decent win, a one-point squeaker over the Buccaneers (3-2) in which their starting quarterback (Mitch Trubisky) was benched. I loved that win by the way. Two of the Bears other three wins are against 0-5 teams: the Giants and Falcons. The other is against the 1-3 Lions. So the Bears might have a better record than the Panthers at the moment, but there is no doubt which team is playing better.
The Bears will come into the game starting backup quarterback Nick Foles (2-1 as a starter) who has a remarkable Super Bowl win to hang his hat on, but not much else. He’s played well enough to win a couple games but he’s also exhibited the same poor decision making he’s known for.
Regarding the total points scored, I like the under this week. I do think the Panthers defense will hold the Bears offense to under 20 points. I’m also gaining confidence in the Joe Brady offense to put points on the board against any defense, even one as stout as the Bears’.
Score prediction: Panthers 23 Bears 17
