Panthers vs Rams Friday injury report: Bruce Irvin and Greg Little ruled out for season opener

New, comments

The Panthers have ruled edge rusher Bruce Irvin and left tackle Greg Little out for Sunday’s game against the Rams after both players missed practice all week.

The Carolina Panthers have released their final injury report for the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, and two players have been ruled out for Sunday’s game: edge rusher Bruce Irvin and left tackle Greg Little. Both players missed practice all week.

The Panthers will be thin on the offensive line with Little still in the concussion protocol. Daryl Williams will start at left tackle, but there’s a huge lack of depth behind him should anything go awry. (Please stay healthy, Daryl!)

With Irvin being ruled out, one would expect either Marquis Haynes or rookie Brian Burns to get the start in his place. Regardless of who starts, we should see plenty of Burns on Sunday depending on the personnel group the Rams use on offense.

The good news for Sunday is that Trai Turner is good to go despite missing practice earlier in the week with a groin injury. The Rams have one of the best defensive fronts in the league, so having as many healthy offensive linemen as possible available on Sunday will benefit the Panthers’ offense.
