Update: In a corresponding move to make room for McCoy on the 90-man roster, wide receiver Mose Frazier has been waived/injured.
Panthers had 90 players on the roster, so the signing of McCoy has been paired with Mose Frazier being waived/injured.https://t.co/T7gKEqbFcb

As we reported yesterday, the six-time Pro Bowler signed a one-year deal with the Panthers for just $4 million in guaranteed money. If all the incentives in the contract are met, the deal will be worth $10.25 million.
The full breakdown of Gerald McCoy’s deal with the #Panthers: 1 year, $4M to sign, $3M base, $500K camp roster bonus, $500K in 45-man per game bonus. Plus, 6.5 sacks for $500k, 8 sacks gets him $1.5M. 250K for Pro Bowl, $250K for playoffs. Just $4M guaranteed. Total: Up $10.25M.

Whether you thought defensive tackle was a premier need or not, this is undeniably a great piece of business for the Panthers. Getting a six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle who still has a lot of tread left on the tires — and taking him from a division rival at that — is an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often. We should definitely celebrate that the Panthers were able to pull off a move like this.
The times have certainly changed here in Charlotte. It seems like it was only a few short years ago that we would be one of the teams who came up short in their efforts to sign a free agent like McCoy, and now we’ve proven that we are in fact a prime destination for free agents to visit when they are searching for a new team. McCoy’s signature gives the Panthers some much needed depth on their defensive line, and this will most likely be a move that we’re looking back on in celebration when the 2019 season is over.
