We’re 83 days away from the Carolina Panthers 2019 season opener. That means today’s countdown piece is devoted to wide receiver Damion Jeanpiere.
Damion Jeanpiere, Wide receiver
Bio
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 185 lbs
Age: 22 years
College: Nicholls State
NFL experience: Rookie
Damion Jeanpiere was signed by the Panthers as an undrafted free agent after the 2019 NFL Draft. He played college football at Nicholls State.
Here’s a quick look at his college career, courtesy of his player profile on the Panthers’ team site:
Played for four seasons at Nicholls State University. In 2018, earned All-Southland Honorable Mention as he led the Colonels with 850 receiving yards on 44 receptions with three touchdowns. Ranked 13th in FCS with 19.3 yards per catch. Also recorded 12 punt returns for 82 yards. In 2017, earned All-Southland Second Team honors as he recorded 770 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 40 catches, ranking 16th in the FCS in yards per catch (19.3). Produced 505 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 2016 and had seven catches for 199 yards and a touchdown in 2015.
It’s very unlikely Jeanpiere makes the 53-man roster to start the season, but there’s a chance he impresses the coaching staff enough to earn his way onto the practice squad. The Panthers normally like to keep at least one receiver on the practice squad, and with Mose Frazier being waived and given an injury settlement there’s now a spot available for someone like Jeanpiere to grab if he makes enough plays during the preseason.
