Barner has bounced around the league throughout his career since the Panthers drafted him in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He has spent time with the Panthers, Eagles, Chargers, Eagles again, Panthers again, Patriots, Panthers yet again, and now the Falcons.
The Panthers claimed him off waivers in November after he was released by the Patriots. He was used as a kick and punt returner by Carolina (though he did have one reception for three yards as a running back) in four games before he was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.
If you’re a huge fan of Barner, have no fear. Odds are he’ll find his way back in Carolina sometime in the near future. If his career pattern holds true, he’ll be back returning kicks for us again in 2023.
