Reed is an interior lineman who spent all of this season with the Miami Dolphins before being waived on Wednesday. He appeared in five games with one start.
Prior to playing for the Dolphins, Reed spent four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars after signing on as an undrafted free agent in 2015, splitting his time between the practice squad and the active roster. He appeared in 25 games for the Jags with eight starts.
If nothing else, Reed is a very strong man. According to his Wikipedia, he was a standout track and field star at Minnesota State. He holds the school record for shot put, indoor weight throw, and outdoor hammer throw. He’s also a two time NCAA Division II outdoor shot put champion. Maybe the Panthers can utilize these skills in some way, but probably not.
