The Carolina Panthers have made two roster moves following their release of Rashaan Gaulden this morning. They have promoted offensive lineman Garrett McGhin from the practice squad to take Gaulden’s place on the 53-man roster. They then signed kicker Greg Joseph to the practice squad.

The specific order of these transactions suggests that the team is more concerned with their current paper thin depth along the offensive line than they are with Joey Slye’s failures from Sunday. Of course, they also touted Joseph’s OK college accuracy at extra points in their announcement of the signing. So. . . there’s that.
McGhin is a local rookie out of East Carolina University who spent part of the offseason with the Buffalo Bills. He was waived from that organization with an injury back in August.
Joseph kicked for Florida Atlantic University before bouncing around the NFL for a year with the Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns. His current claim to trivia fame is that he was part of the inaugural 2020 draft class for the Seattle Dragons of the XFL. That draft took place in October of 2019.
