R.J. White of CBS Sports has posted a full seven-round mock draft where the Carolina Panthers make a trade with the Chicago Bears to move up in the second round to grab some more help for the secondary.
Here’s the full seven round mock:
1-24 Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville
2-39 Justin Reid, FS, Stanford (from [CHI])
2-55 Traded to Chicago
3-85 Traded to Chicago (from BUF )
3-88 Rashaad Penny, RB, San Diego State
5-161 Keke Coutee, WR, Texas Tech
6-197 Marcell Frazier, DE, Missouri
7-234 Taylor Hearn, G, Clemson (from LAC/BUF)
7-242 Ryan Izzo, TE, Florida State
I like this draft a lot. While I’m on the ‘get Cam Newton a wide receiver’ train, getting Alexander and Reid is a good first two rounds. I don’t mind the trade since the Panthers have two third round picks that are very close together, so they don’t lose much by trading one of them away.
I also like the selection of Penny in the third round. I think he would be a solid value there. The rest of the draft is okay, but after the fourth round it’s mostly a crapshoot anyway, so there’s not much reason to complain.
