With the announcement that linebacker Jared Norris has a super serious case of turf toe, the Carolina Panthers felt they needed to add more depth at the position. To that end, they’ve signed linebacker Brandon Chubb to the practice squad and released quarterback Connor Cook.

Per the Panthers website:
Chubb most recently spent time with the Colts and Titans this summer. He was with the Lions during the 2018 offseason. Chubb spent the 2017 season on the Lions’ injured reserve list. As a rookie in 2016, he spent time on the practice squads of San Francisco, Detroit and the Los Angeles Rams.
Chubb originally signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest. Chubb’s younger brother Bradley was selected fifth overall by the Broncos in the 2018 NFL Draft.
While this move won’t arouse much curiosity, it has to be noted that there has been a massive Chubb incursion into the National Football League in recent years, and basically nowhere else. While Chubb faces stiff odds of ever actually playing linebacker in a live football game for the Panthers, the franchise can’t afford to go limp at such a crucial position.
We wish we could provide you with more information on this signing, but with Chubb being a relative unknown, we hope you won’t judge us on the length of this piece.
