The Carolina Panthers have returned Thomas Davis to their active roster today after his four game suspension. His suspension was announced in April after he reportedly tested positive for a banned substance. Ron Rivera has already announced that he will start Sunday against Washington and he is clearly excited to have one of his top defensive playmakers back on the field:

They say Curtis Samuel had a heart procedure, but it’s the defense that has looked like it was missing its soul. Davis’ return should provide a spark to a unit that has struggled to either rush the passer or contain big runs. They gave up almost 23 points per game through the first quarter of the 2018 season.
Tom Brady, who is the Patriots’ equivalent of a heart and soul, served a four game suspension the year of his most recent a Super Bowl victory — an impressive comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons. Fresh legs may be just what the doctor ordered for Davis this year.
