Watch #73 RG Greg Van Roten pull to the left to take on the DB. But rather than just flatten him he gets under him, raises him up and blocks him into a another Jaguars defender, essentially getting a two-fer on the block. But he’s not done yet.
Van Roten stays on his feet, follows his RB and begins the surge to push the RB into the end zone.

I have no idea if he has a chance at the 53 man roster but I am positive this play helped his cause.
The Panthers signed Van Roten on July 25th shortly after cutting Michael Oher. Van Roten is actually back in football after being out since 2014.

I have to think Van Roten is on his last shot to make a roster after being out so long. I give him props though for giving one more try. He seems to be making the most of it. It looks like he suffered an injury in 2014 while in Green Bay so my guess is he is finally healthy.
He could have a legit shot here given the injury status at center and the fact Gino Gradkowski isn’t exactly playing well. He’s a center/guard combo player so that helps as well. Looking at the depth chart the guy he has to beat out is Chris Scott, which is very doable.
