It’s pretty safe to say that last season was not a success for the Panthers. After falling just short of a Super Bowl victory in 2015 the Panthers crashed and burned in 2016 thanks to a handful of injuries to several key players.
Seeing a Super Bowl team from the previous year go 6-10 is decidedly not fun, so hopefully we don’t have to go through that again in 2017. The Panthers have taken steps to ensure a repeat of last year doesn’t happen, but it’s all up to the great crapshoot that is the NFL regular season.
We all know what counts as “not a success”, but where do we draw that line? What has to happen in 2017 for you to consider the season successful? Do the Panthers have to run the table and hoist the Lombardi in celebration of their 19-0 record? Is winning the Super Bowl the minimum you’ll settle for? Are you happy with making a deep playoff run, or are you okay with just a winning season?
The fun part is most everyone will have a different opinion on what the Panthers need to do to find success this season, so let’s take some time to discuss those opinions.
As custom, I’ll share mine. For the 2017 season to be considered a success, the Panthers need to make the playoffs. This team is too stacked to consider finishing 9-7 successful, and while winning the division would be great, just making the playoffs as a wild card team would be good enough for me. Anything that happens after that is icing on the cake.
What about you, Panthers fans? What has to happen for you to feel like this season was successful? Share your thoughts in the comments!
