NFL Fantasy Football 2017: Week 5 DFS Lineup Advice

Starters for your week 5 DFS matchup.

NFL: Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

As per last week, let’s start with a review of how my picks did in week 4.

Week 5 DFS

Position Name Start % Score Stats Pts
Position Name Start % Score Stats Pts
QB Drew Brees 22.40% NO 20 MIA 0 Final 2 PaTD, 268 PaYds, 3 RuYds 19.02

RB Christian McCaffrey 10.90% CAR 33 NE 30 Final 16 RuYds, 33 RecYds, 4 REC 8.9
WR Larry Fitzgerald 21.40% SF 15 ARI 18 Final 1 RecTD, 32 RecYds, 4 REC 13.2
WR DeAndre Hopkins 16.60% TEN 14 HOU 57 Final 1 RecTD, 107 RecYds, 10 REC, 1 100+Rec 29.7
WR Marvin Jones Jr. 2.30% DET 14 MIN 7 Final 42 RecYds, 2 REC 6.2
TE Charles Clay 13.00% BUF 23 ATL 17 Final 112 RecYds, 5 REC, 1 100+Rec 19.2
FLEX Allen Hurns 8.30% JAX 20 NYJ 23 Final 42 RecYds, 4 REC 8.2
DST Jaguars 16.30% JAX 20 NYJ 23 Final 5 SACK, 1 INT, 1 DFR, 1 DefTD 15

As we can see, most of these picks panned out. I should have had more faith in the DeShaun Watson to Deandre Hopkins handcuff and started Watson in place of Brees who under performed for his track history. Jones, Hursn and McCaffrey had mid level games that couldn’t stand up to the monster game Todd Gurley put in. So, let’s look at this week:

Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers

The Rodgers vs Dallas match up is one that i’m just super excited about this week. I’m handcuffing with Jordy Nelson for the big score, I hope.

Running Back

Leonard Fournette

Fournette hasn’t had a bad game yet. He’s Jacksonville’s main weapon and every week he shows why he was drafted so high. The cost to benefit ratio is still favorable on most weeks.

Running Back

Christian McCaffrey

McCaffrey has become a heavy weapon in the Carolina offense. He should be taking off any day now. When he does, expect a rush to add CMC to the lineup. His points are average right now but he’s yet to find the end zone, which would make him a high value start.

Wide Receiver

Travis Benjamin

This is exactly what it looks like. A boom or bust player against a soft defense in a situation where he normally excels. I’m comfortable with Benjamin, you could also put Nelson Agholor or Marvin Jones in this spot if it tickles your fancy.

Wide Receiver

Jarvis Landry

You don’t have to like the Jay Cutler to like the opportunity for Landry to take advantage of a good match up. Tennessee is giving up big games to WRs right now and Jarvis has been having a solid year.

Wide Receiver

Jordy Nelson

Jordy is worth the cost to gain some much needed points with most of GB struggling through injuries. Montgomery is out so GB will have to air it out a bit more often than previous weeks. They can make that happen against Dallas.

Tight End

Jared Cook

Derek Carr might suit up for Oakland or he might not. Either way, a trusty TE is a great weapon to have when you’re struggling to go deep.

Flex RB/WR

Legarrette Blount

There’s no one left on the roster to take snaps from Blount. You gotta think he finally gets the reps to put up more than 10 pts a game.

Defense/Special Teams

Myles Garrett is on his way back and Cleveland has been waiting to show what their defense can do. This is their week if there’s going to be one.

So that’s my team. Who are you starting this week?
