Week 5 is upon us and injuries have wreaked havoc upon the league. RBs are going down left and right, defensive positions are turning into turn styles and QBs are failing to meet expectations. There’s plenty to bet on for a team with a few weak spots.
Quarterback
Mitchell Trubisky
I’m saying it. If you’ve got nothing to lose, Mitch is getting his first start against the Vikings. This may not be the best week to start the rookie but having him on your roster now could pay dividends.
Wide Receiver
Devin Funchess
Funchess has made some nice receptions in the last few weeks. He’s still on a stacked roster but injuries to Greg Olsen, Damiere Byrd, and Curtis Samuel are giving him some more targets. If Cam continues to perform like he did against the Patriots, there’s a decent chance he’ll make a good Flex option.
Running Back
Jerrick McKinnon
Who will rise to the top in Minnesota is anybody’s guess but McKinnon receives the most targets at this point. With Dalvin Cook out for the season, someone is going to be taking a heavy dose of touches in his absence.
Tight End
Evan Engram
Engram hasn’t been a barn burner at TE but he has been serviceable and with NY struggling to find anything that works, what works is valuable at this point. There’s not a lot available in the TE market but Engram and Charles Clay are two oft overlooked performers still putting up points.
Kicker
Harrison Butker
There’s a new kicker in KC. Panthers fans may have heard of him. Taking over for an injured Carlos Santos, Butker could make a case for the starting job soon enough.
Defense/Special Teams
They’re a group not many think of when they’re going for the big score but Cincy has a better than average D and plenty of match ups to pick and choose against. There are a lot of worse options.
