Panthers 33 Patriots 30: Panthers Player of the Game Fan Poll

We have lots to choose from this week

Unlike last week, when I struggled to find four names to put on this list, I have plenty to choose from. Your task is difficult. Who is your Panthers Player of the Game in the upset win over the Patriots on the road?

QB Cam Newton

Newton put up one of the better stat lines of his career in this huge road win. Newton completed 22 of 29 for 316 yards 3 TDs, one INT and a QBR of 130.8. Newton basically outplayed 1st ballot HoFer Tom Brady and that is before you consider Newton also ran for 44 yards and a score.

WR Devin Funchess

Funchess finally had his break out game. Funch caught 7 of 9 targets for 70 yards and 2 TDs. You can see how confident he is now and is really starting to use his size to his advantage. With teams now focused on Kelvin Benjamin and Christian McCaffrey, Funchess will have more opportunities to dominate.

LB Luke Kuechly

Kuechly led the team with 12 solo tackles and 2 assists along with a tackle for loss. Luke was very busy all day.

DE Julius Peppers

Peppers added two more sacks to his resume plus 4 combined tackles and three additional QB hurries. Pep sure has energized the pass rush. With 4.5 sacks on the season Peppers is now in the top 5 of the NFL.

WR Kelvin Benjamin

KB didn’t get a lot of targets in this game but he caught all four of them and they were all big catches. Long catches too, to the tune of 104 yards. That’s a 26 yard per average catch. A lot of it was after the catch as Benjamin was running loose.

K Graham Gano

Anytime Gano makes a game winning kick on the last play of the game he will be on this list. He could have been the goat had the Panthers lost that game because of Gano’s missed extra point earlier. For the day he hit 2 of 2 FGs and 3 of 4 extra points.
