The Carolina Panthers announced another batch of cuts today, who join a longer list let go over the weekend.
- S Trenton Robinson - Seemed to be a promising safety who has starting experience and value on special teams. Unfortunately, he needed pectoral surgery so this is likely going to result in him being placed on IR if he clears waivers.
- P Mike Scifres - After the Panthers made the move yesterday to grab P Andy Lee from the Browns, that all but sealed Scifres fate. After hurting his knee, the Panthers let the other punter Kasey Redfern go along with a 2018 4th round draft pick. Now the Panthers have a good-to-great punter while Redfern can make a push to stay on a Browns team that is rebuilding it’s core.
- DE Rakim Cox - Couldn’t really stay on the field due to injury. It is looking more and more likely that the Panthers will make a move on a defensive end. Cox could go right back to the practice squad like he did last year if he clears waivers.
- WR LaRon Byrd - The other Byrd just wasn’t gonna get it done as the Panthers continue to keep 9 other wide receivers heading in to the Panthers’ fourth preseason game. They likely will not bring him back to the PS right away, but it is possible.
What are your thoughts, Panthers fans?
