Kaden
The episode starts with Cam meeting Kaden and his family at their home. Kaden tells Cam that he wants to be a BMX rider, so Cam introduces him to professional BMX riders Daniel Sandoval and Mat Hoffman. They hang out with Kaden and teach him how to perform a new trick. Kaden was nervous about completing the move and considered giving up until he heard this piece of advice from Cam about conquering fear:
The one thing about fear... your mind tells you every single thing that you can't do. Reverse it and tell your mind every single thing that you can do.
This inspired Kaden to keep trying. Despite failing repeatedly he never gave up, which impressed Cam, Daniel and Mat. After a brief pep talk, Cam asked Kaden to keep trying and send him a video when he finally mastered the trick. A brief follow-up scene was shown of Kaden nailing the trick and Cam watching the video on his phone.
Soleil
Next, Cam visited Soleil, who wants to be a veterinarian. We quickly learn that Cam is afraid of snakes. (Side note: Soleil laughed at Cam when she found this out.)
Cam took Soleil to the Conejo Valley Veterinary Hospital to teach her the ins and outs of being a veterinarian. He brought in Dr. Evan Antin to give her a behind the scenes look at his practice. He showed her an X-ray of a dog, and she impressed Dr. Antin by asking in-depth questions about the dog's spinal column. After seeing the X-ray, she was able to listen to a dog's heartbeat with a stethoscope, and Cam did the same.
Then, they looked at a Burmese python, and Cam left the room. Soleil called him a "scaredy Panther" and laughed at him (that's twice, for those of you scoring at home). Cam hid behind the doorway as Dr. Antin taught Soleil about snakes. Dr. Antin was impressed with Soleil's knowledge about animals, and took her to The Gentle Barn where she was able to play with rescued pigs, horses, chickens and goats. There was a thousand-pound pig named Biscuit that Cam said should go on a diet, along with an emu named Jimmy that Cam said he hadn't seen since 2011. (Okay, that last part may or may not be true.)
The show concluded with scenes from next week's episode, which will be about a girl named Ajnai who wants to be a professional basketball player. Cam plays basketball with her and introduces her to former WNBA star Lisa Leslie.
My Thoughts
It was nice to see Cam interacting with kids and helping them accomplish their goals. It's well-known to Panthers fans that Cam is great in the community, but this show will hopefully go a long way in dispelling the myth that he's a selfish person who doesn't care about kids. It's obvious that haters and trolls are gonna hate no matter what, but maybe this series can help convince most people that Cam actually is a pretty good dude.
All In With Cam Newton airs Friday nights at 8 p.m. EDT on Nickelodeon.
