Panthers Release Edwards & Chandler; Re-Sign OG Chris Scott

While not the caliber of news as the release of DE Charles Johnson earlier the Panthers made a couple other roster moves today.

The Panthers re-sign versatile OL Chris Scott:

Panthers Re-sign Chris Scott

Scott, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent on March 9, played in 13 regular season games at guard and on special teams this past season. He played in all three postseason games. He wasn't on the team the first few weeks of 2014 but returned to a similar role, also taking some snaps at tackle. In 2013, his first year with the Panthers, Scott started seven games at right guard and one game at left guard.

Scott can pretty much play anywhere along the interior of the line plus fill in at OT if needed. Scott's contract value has been posted yet but he played for $745k in 2015.

The Panthers also released DT Dwan Edwards who has been with the team for four seasons. Edwards filled a much needed role in Carolina when he came over and solidified the DT position when it was needed most. Once the Panthers drafted Star Lotulelei and and Kawann Short, Edwards provided depth and veteran leadership:

"Dwan represents what we look for in defensive tackles," general manager Dave Gettleman said. "He was smart, tough, played with discipline and was team-oriented. His contributions played a key role in what we are building here and his leadership will be missed. We wish him the best."

Edwards had a $1M base salary in 2015 with a total cap hit of $1.75M.

Based on these latest roster changes here's an updated list of Panther free agents:
