Via Pro Football Talk:
Greg Hardy takes NFC defensive player of week award | ProFootballTalk
Hardy was named NFC defensive player of the week after his three-sack outburst against the Giants. He had plenty of company, as the Panthers registered seven sacks on the day. Hardy now has 14.0 sacks in his last 15 games, an impressive pace for a guy looking for a new deal.
Of course I doubt Hardy cares much for such honors. Fourteen sacks in his last 15 games is pretty strong. Let's hope a long-term deal for Hardy gets done soon.
Honorable mention has to go the rest of the line including rookie DT Star Lotulelei, who Hardy says needs to be renamed 'Superstar'. It's simple but it fits. Charles Johnson also had a great game just not the shiny stats (1 sack). It was a banner day for the defense as a whole. We had a notion in the preseason this front seven was going to be special. It's nice to see them actually show it on the field against an opponent we owed some payback too.
Now if we can just get our walking injured back over the bye week we should be in line for a nice run based on our next four opponents: Cardinals, Vikings, Rams & Bucs. If we can make hay in that four game run then we should have a lot of confidence when the Falcons come to town after that. The Falcons seem to be a shade of their 2012 team so that bodes well too.
