Pat Yasinskas of ESPN's NFC South Blog has reported that Panthers center Ryan Kalil has agreed to a contract restructure that will reduce his cap hit from $8.6M to $6.4M for the 2013 season.
This is a good move for the Panthers as it frees up some desperately needed cap space while also keeping an important cog in the machine on the roster.
Kalil was given a $5M signing bonus for being willing to restructure, $4M of which came from dropping his base salary from $4.75M to $750K for the 2013 season.
While this restructure certainly helps the Panthers in their quest to be Salary Cap compliant, they still have a long way to go before they're able to be under the cap enough to add any necessary pieces to the roster.
