Panthers injury report: Wednesday practice update

Kenjon Barner could play this weekend after he practiced Wednesday.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Panthers could get the help of a running back this week, but it's not Jonathan Stewart. Kenjon Barner fully participated in practice Wednesday, and could play Sunday for the second time this season.

Barner caught one pass for five yards against the Arizona Cardinals, but the Panthers' rookie has been noticeably absent in 2013. His inability to play paired with Stewart's recovery has led to DeAngelo Williams shouldering the load -- he is on pace for the most carries of his career after five games.

The secondary should get some help too as Robert Lester participated today. If he can play the Panthers will likely user Quintin Mikell off the bench against his former team. Lester has been a bright spot for Carolina since being signed as an undrafted free agent prior to the season.
