The Carolina Panthers do not expect to trade running back DeAngelo Williams, reports Steve Reed. Williams isn't two full years a five-year, $43.5 million deal, but he found himself benched in Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Williams has 13 carries for 37 yards in his previous two game,s with most of the Panthers running being done by Jonathan Stewart. Were the Panthers to trade Williams, they would still be on the hook for the $2.6 million (out of 5.25 total) he is still guaranteed for this season.

Williams is currently averaging 3.4 yards per carry and 30 yards per game, below his 2011 number of 52.3 yards per game and well below the career high of 94.7 he posted in 2008. Stewart isn't faring much better, averaging 3.5 yards per carry and 36.8 per game. Carolina's rushing attack ranks square in the middle of the league, 15th at 114 yards per game.
