Panthers 7th Round Mock Draft

Just when I had swore off looking at any more mock drafts I see this one where former scout Tom Marino mocks the last round. "A complete crapshoot" I thought. Yet Marino did pretty good last year.

A former scouting colleague — without even viewing my selections — has wagered me a steak dinner at a restaurant of my choice — that I won't be able to name two of the 45 potential seventh-round selections. And for each correct prediction over two, he has promised an additional steak dinner.

For the record, in my first attempt in 2007 I was able to hit on twelve seventh-round selections — a far cry from the twenty-eight of thirty-two first-round hits. But if I can duplicate that effort, it would be good enough to keep me on the free-meal gravy train for a very long time.

He hit 12 last season which seems good. Hitting 28 of 32 in the 1st round is good too. So here is who he thinks the Panthers will take with their three 7th round picks.

14-221William Hayes DE Winston-Salem St. Impressive from an athletic standpoint. Could well be the class of this season's seventh-round. prospects.

I’m ok with depth at DE. You can never have too much at that spot.

34-241(Comp)Duane Brown OT Virginia Tech Big, athletic prospect with good feet and body balance who will need to improve his core strength and finishing skills.

I agree the Panthers need more than one tackle from this draft. This is the guy the Draft Daddy mock had the Panthers taking in the 2nd round! Now I have seen it all.

43-250 (Comp) Louis Holmes DE Arizona Top JC player recruit in the country has the size and athletic ability , but has never shown either the maturity and or consistency.

Another DE? He must not think the Panthers will take one earlier and is hoping to find a gem.

Two weeks to go and it cannot go by fast enough.

Unfortunatly

he's not very high on the Panthers ability to come back from last year.  In his 2009 mock draft he has the panthers picking 12th and mike martz as the new coach.  Odd.

the coach
I'm convinced we're going to win the superbowl this year.  No one wants to use injuries as an excuse, but we did have four different starting QBs last year, not to mention Basanez on IR before the season.  With Jake, 10-6 would have been very doable last year.

If we do end up picking 12th, which I'm willing to bet against, then our next coach will be Bill Cowher.

Absolutly

I think we're going to go far this year.  I'm not betting on a superbowl but I am betting on a good play off run.

There are a lot of question marks.  But I think that without the crap position that the defense was in last year that the defense will be a lot better and the offense will shock people.

We do have a lot of question marks

Starting with Jake's elbow. Will the o-line improve? Will the d-line miss Jenkins? Will Hackett and/or Moose provide #2 receiver production? Can D-Will handle 20-25 carries a game? I could go on for a while it seems.
