Panthers Shock Seahawks 13-10
We may have just seen the emergence of the Panthers future QB. Matt Moore managed the offense well enough to keep the Panthers in the game and defense put up a show worthy of Panther legend. With the help of 40 mph gusts the Panther defense stuffed the Seahawk running game and kept the Seahawks from converting 3rd downs.
Moore (19 for 27, 208 yds) did not get sacked and the offense did not turn the ball over. Moore completed some 3rd downs and showed a bit of a rapport with Steve Smith. The kid played well and gives Panther fans some hope for next season.
Consider the following other Panthers for game MVP:
DeAngelo Williams (15 for 61 yards, 1 TD) D-Will put the nail in the coffin with a 34 yard scamper after the Marshall fumble recovery
Kemo (3 tackles, 1 for loss) Kemo dominated his match-up early to stuff the Seahawks running game and set the tone early
Steve Smith (8 rec, 72 yards) Smith and Moore showed a connection that resulted in key 3rd down conversions
Richard Marshall (5 tackles, 2 assists, 1 fumble rec) Marshall recovered a fumble the only turnover of the game and sealed the victory for the Panthers. The fumble halted what was looking like a winning drive by the Seahawks.
Kris Jenkins (2 tackles, 1 sack) Jenkins had a key sack in the 4th quarter to stop a Seahawk drive and wreaked havock all game
Thomas Davis (1 sack, FF, 1 tackles, 3 assists) Davis had the sack that forced the fumble that stopped a potential Seahawks winning drive
Ken Lucas (7 tackles, 1 assist) Lucas made some key tackles and played Branch tough all day
What a great victory for the Panthers, Matt Moore and John Fox as they will be partying in Charlotte tonight.

great game
It seems that we would be better off if Fox read the CSR. We've been saying start Matt Moore for weeks. He gets the start because of injuries, but he should've started earlier. If Vinny is healthy, who starts the next two weeks? I think Moore should start, but Fox has loyalty issues. Williams is getting the ball more, though, and that's a plus. Carter has really come on and would be an outstanding #3 next season. Let's see if Jarrett can fill the #2 role. Either way, Jaxon said Moore gives us hope for next season. Jake is going to have something to say about that. Jake is in his early 30s like me, so he probably plans to play at least three more years. If Moore plays well the next two weeks, he might become our version of Matt Schaub in Atlanta. There's no way he beats out Jake. And if I'm wrong, well, I would love a QB better than 2003 Jake Delhomme, but Fox is a loyal guy and I'm not positive that Moore is that good. I think we still need to draft a QB next year, probably in the later rounds, since we'll only have two on the roster next year - Carr and Vinny will be gone. A better safety and o-linemen are the priorities.
Next year Fox has to get us to the NFC Championship game to keep his job. What's going on is (get ready for a rumor based on other rumors) that Cowher knows JR is giving Fox another year. 7-9 using four different QBs is not a good enough reason to get fired. That's why COwher said he will not coach next year. Then after the 2008 season, if Fox is fired, we get Cowher. If we make the Championship game, Fox should stay, and Cowher goes elsewhere, like Washington if Gibbs hangs it up and Cowher gets to coach Portis, Landry, Campbell, McIntosh and Cooley.

If we go 7-9
Fox keeps his job. A one game slip when using 4 QB's isn't enough to get fired unless JR decides he wants Cowher and its either get him now or lose him to someone else.
Moore showed poise we haven't seen much of this season. I'd rather see the Panthers go get another FA to battle with Moore for #2 spot next year.
D-Will needs to get the majority of carries immediately. Foster would not have made that 35 yrd TD.

7-9
The beginning of this season we agreed the Panthers would be somewhere between 10-6 and 12-4. We could say we have a lot to be proud of at 7-9 with 4 QBs. I just don't want to use the QB play as an excuse for dropped passes, lack of a pass rush, fumbles, poor kick-off coverage, and spotty play calling at times.
I agree that we need to bring in someone to compete with Moore for the #2, or bring in a couple guys to compete for the #3. There may be guys who can play better than him in camp, but won't have the same poise and decision making during the game. I'm not convinced he's so much better than Weinke, but that's really irrelevant to our future.
Your comments about D-Will are common knowledge for everyone except John Fox. It seems we've been saying this for at least a month, and the Panthers don't realize it. I understand that a RB needs to do more than just run. I don't know how well D-Will knows the playbook and how well he runs routes and picks up the blitz, but when we drafted him in the first round, they didn't show highlights of his blocking. We drafted him to run. So now we need to get him the ball.
