Panthers Next 3 Games Suddenly Look Tougher
Many Panthers fans in their preseason predictions penciled in three W’s on the Panthers next three games: Tennessee, Atlanta, & Green Bay. Suddenly those three games look more difficult. Sure, the Atlanta Falcons should be an easy victory, but a win for the Panthers is no sure thing against any team. The Falcons will be motivated to play the Panthers tough given the highly volatile game they played earlier. DeAngelo Hall will certainly want to make a statement (without saying anything).
I knew the Tennessee Titan defense would be stellar this season and I really thought Vince Young would shine. So I got 1 out of 2 as Young has struggled with injuries. The Titan defense on the other hand is #1 against the run, allowing a paltry 64 yards per game. We can expect a 9-6 type of defensive struggle unless turnovers lead to scores. Though the Titan pass defense is missing Pacman Jones the Titans are still 2nd in the NFL in INT’s with 11. Outside of Steve Smith the best we can hope for is a few converted 3rd downs. The Titans won’t have to do anything special to get pressure on the Panthers QB.
If you watched the Green Bay Packers last night you might find yourself gaining respect for the Packers. I sure have as I have been expecting them to fold like a cheap lawn chair. (Old analogy I know) The Packers finally have some exciting receivers for Brett Favre to throw to and the defense is for real. The Packers are allowing 98 yds rushing per game, 11th best in the NFL. They are also 11th in sacks and should give the Panthers cause for worry all afternoon.
Yes, what many thought would be a 3-0 run could easily be a hard fought 1-2 downer. I hate predicting tough times so I will remain positive the Cardiac Cats will resurrect a victory and win 2 of the next three games to go to 6-4.
