Panthers vs. Saints 2nd Half Open thread

Wow...what a finish for the 2nd quarter. We've got them right were we want them...will they sit their starters and potentially concede a loss to a fired up Panther team?

Panthers vs. Saints Pre-Game Open Thread

CHARLOTTE, NC - DECEMBER 24: Members of the Carolina Panthers Cheerleaders perform during the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Bank of America Stadium on December 24, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina (Photo by Scott Cunningham/Getty Images)

The Panthers have talked about being chippy having not forgotten the game earlier this season in Charlotte. In that one Saints S Roman Harper laid a cheap shot on Steve Smith well after Smith scored a TD. After trailing for the entire game, the Panthers scored early in the 4th quarter to take the lead. The Saints would eventually win the game on a last minute TD that just sucked.

We are looking for a better result in this game...the is now an Open Thread!

Panthers Week 16 Top 5 Defensive Plays vs. Bucs

CHARLOTTE, NC - DECEMBER 24: Kellen Winslow #82 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fumbles the ball as teammates Dan Connor #55 and Chris Gamble #20 of the Carolina Panthers make a play on the ball during their game at Bank of America Stadium on December 24, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Continuing our series of weekly top 5 plays on defense we have more of a yeoman's effort to select from this week. The Panthers did make plenty of plays on defense in the 48-16 win yet several of them were also due to sloppy play from the Bucs. We will take it however it is delivered, even on a silver platter if our opponent is kind enough. Even better is that three of these plays occurred in the 3rd quarter, the quarter that seems to give the Panthers fits all season...but not on this day!

Play #5 - On the Bucs first play offensive play from scrimmage RB Legarette Blount doesn't get the hand off cleanly and fumbles it at the line of scrimmage. LB James Anderson, who seems to be Mr. Johnny on the Spot for the Panthers in 2011 recovers the ball leading to a FG and an early 10 point Panther lead.

Play #4 - With 11:11 left in the 4th quarter the Bucs had just scored a TD and were attempting a 2 point conversion to pull within 30 points (loved typing that). Enter the Kraken...DE Greg Hardy blows off the left edge and sacks Josh Freeman to save two points and keep the lead at a comfortable 32 points.

Play #3 - Though this is actually a special teams play I had to include it. The last play of the 3rd quarter was a kick off after Cam Newton's 49 yard dagger to the Bucs heart. KR Sammie Stroughter takes the kick five yards deep and elects to take it out...bad decision. LB Jason Williams is coming bonsai down the field and dials in on Stroughter full steam at the 15 yard line and drills him. The ball pops out and CB Josh Thomas is there for the recovery. Two plays later Newton hits Shockey for a TD to extend the lead.

CSR Monday Night Football Open Thread

We've got an NFC South show down tonight that normally would have zero impact on the Panthers. But Fox has decided that if the Falcons win tonight then the Panthers vs. Saints game next Sunday has a little more meaning and they will flex it to a 4:15pm kick off. I could really care less what time we play but I would like to see the Saints have something to play for. I want to beat Drew Brees when he is trying to win.

Either way we will be talking Panthers...

This is Now a MNF Open Thread!

CSR Sunday Night Football Open Thread

via media.charlotteobserver.com

We've got the Bears at Lambeau Field to play the Packers in what seems like the Packers weekly prime time game. If this game was in Chicago I might think the Bears would have a chance but...

How about those Panthers?

Bucs vs. Panthers 2nd Half Open Thread

CHARLOTTE, NC - DECEMBER 24: Cam Newton #1 of the Carolina Panthers throws a pass to set the NFL record for passing yards as a rookie during the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Bank of America Stadium on December 24, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina (Photo by Scott Cunningham/Getty Images)

We've got a nice 20-10 lead Panther fans as Cam Newton has the rookie passing record, our running game is off the chain and LaFell has a 91 yd reception for a TD.

Let's keep it going Panthers!
