While it's natural to think there may be more behind this move I'm taking it at face value.
Ricky Proehl steps down as wide receivers coach
I always told him when he started at Chapel Hill that if he became a starter or an impact player, that I would walk away to come to all his games," Proehl explained. "It would really hurt me to not be there for him.
"The first thing kids do is look back for mom and dad. That doesn’t change, no matter how old you are. For the last three years for Austin, I haven’t been there when he’s looked back. He’s got one year left, and I want to be there for him."
I salute Proehl for putting his career on hold to be there for his sons. I envy his ability to do that. Most of us need the income to survive and therefore wouldn't be able to make this klnd of decision.
Likewise some poeple who could do it don't because their career takes priority. So no matter how you cut it I'm sure it was a tough decision for Proehl and his family. Well maybe not for his sons who I'm sure will benefit from his involvement. I mean his sons are WRs so I can't see Proehl being completely hands off. So I wish Ricky the best. I'm sure once his boys are through college he will get the chance at coaching again.
So now the Panthers need a WR coach. Any suggestions?
