Career
Joe Webb is one of my favorite players on the roster. He is ready and willing to do a lot of things plenty of 3rd string quarterbacks wouldn’t dare do. He returns kicks, he COVERS kicks, and then he’ll go 5-5 for 60 yards and a touchdown in a preseason game against the Titans. The man is a great teammate and a great player.
This will be Webb’s third year in Carolina. His previous experience came in Minnesota where he got to back up OBJECTIVELY the greatest quarterback of all time: Brett Favre. Follow me for a minute. There was a game last year where a commentator was talking about Cam’s ability to throw, specifically pertaining to the velocity with which he pushes the ball through the air. Whoever it was said that Cam evoked memories of Brett Favre. I immediately grabbed my phone, texted my friend that MY GOODNESS CAM WAS JUST COMPARED TO BRETT FAVRE, and he had done the same. We basked in the glory. I know that was a long way to go for a Brett Favre story, and I don’t want to hijack Webb’s day by talking about other quarterbacks, so...
Joe knows kick returning. Joe knows receiving. Joe knows a two year contract extension to keep him out of free agency. Joe knows that the Panthers right now have one of the healthiest organizations in the NFL. Just listen to what our players have to say. Jared Allen said it was the best locker room he’s been in. You don’t think Derek Anderson could start somewhere? Carolina is a place people want to be, and seeing a talent like Joe Webb deny himself to stay with us confirms that and makes me proud to be a fan of this team.
It’s nice to know that we’ve caught Joe Webb in our we—[computer screen explodes]
