American Ninja Warrior is a show on NBC that features some of the most agile athletes the United States has to offer. For fans of the show, SB Nation has just launched AmericanNinjaWarriorNation.com in partnership with NBC, giving the warrior faithful their own Ninja-CSR equivalent to keep up on. Even if you are not a regular watcher of the show, it is not uncommon to flip through channels and be captivated by the feats of strength on display.
There is certainly no way that I could compete on the show, and the same could be said about 99 percent of people I would imagine. But that one percent... they are coming from somewhere. In fact, I would guess that we have some shadow warriors on our roster.
Some of the Tenets of Ninjutsu (or Ninpo) include:
Hensōjutsu - disguise, misdirection, and impersonation
It is a primary trait of the ninja to deceive and misdirect their targets. Cam Newton and Richie Brockel are masters of deception, and the famous "Annexation of Puerto Rico" is the perfect example.
Intonjutsu - escaping and concealment
A master ninja knows how to blend in perfectly with his surroundings before making a swift and decisive strike against his foe. Here we see Luke Kuechly blend seamlessly into the players around him, only to explode out at the last moment, and absolutely destroy his target.
Taijutsu - unarmed combat
No ninja worth his throwing stars would dare take the battlefield without pure hand to hand combat skills. In the event that subtlety fails, one must dispatch of their enemy quickly and brutally. I think we can all agree that Thomas Davis is both quick... and brutal. Jimmy Graham agrees.
Chōhō - espionage
Sometimes one must simply take whatever he needs, and have the skills to escape without capture. Kurt Coleman is the Hattori Hanzo of that particular art.
Shurikenjutsu - throwing weapons techniques
Even the most seasoned sensei would be impressed by Cam Newton's throwing weapon skills. His precision and speed are second to none.
Seishinteki kyōyō - spiritual refinement
You will find no spirit in the land more refined than Mike Tolbert. Guaranteed.
