The Carolina Panthers face the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, and the line has settled at 5.5 points at most sportsbooks. A few have the spread at six points, but most that had it there earlier this week have since moved it down half a point.
The Panthers enter the game 17-1 straight up and 13-5 against the spread this season. They have won and covered the spread in all three games since their lone loss to the Atlanta Falcons. These two teams have not faced off since November 2012, a game the Broncos won 36-14. Four years prior to that, the Panthers won 30-10.
The Panthers have done well in spreads around this margin. In their last 12 games as favorites of six points or less, they are 9-3 ATS. At the same time, the favored team has lost four straight Super Bowls SU and ATS and have only covered in three of the last 15. The public is heavily betting on the Panthers, and that combination of offense and defense should be enough to help them win this one going away. Crazy things do happen, but if the Panthers can rattle Peyton Manning, they can get this win.
