If there is such a thing as an important preseason game, then history suggests the fourth game is not it. Starters barely play in this game, and coaches are using it simply to determine which guys they are going to keep at the bottom of their 53 man roster. If you're into watching guys you've barely heard of play football at 3/4 speed for a few hours, then this is the game for you.
When the Panthers take on the Steelers tonight we will get a better idea of who is likely to make the 53 man roster, because the guys who make the most of their opportunities are going to get more consideration. There are only a few positions left that have any questions, so expect to see a lot of rotation going on with the running backs and wide receivers as the coaches will want to get all the information they can before decisions have to be made.
At quarterback you're going to see a lot of Derek Anderson and Joe Webb, and very little of Cam Newton. Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on your perspective.
The game will take place at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
Below you will find all the information you need to be able to watch the game live, stream it online, listen to it on the radio or catch a replay of it at a later date. Whatever your personal needs are for this game, we've got you covered (other than buying you a ticket, of course).
Live Television
The game will be broadcast live on Panthers TV. To find out how to watch Panthers TV in your area, you can click here. (Unfortunately, Panthers TV is only available in major markets across the Carolinas. Sorry, out of market fans.)
Online Streaming
You can live stream all NFL preseason games if you purchase NFL Game Pass. It's a little pricey at $99, but it includes the ability to replay all regular season games and access to All-22 film. If you're just desperate to watch the Panthers game there is a 7-day free trial, but sign up at your own risk if you're one of those people who forgets to cancel before the free trial is over.
Live Radio
You can listen to the live radio feed on 1110 AM WBT if you're in the local broadcast area. You can also download the WBT Radio App to your smartphone and listen to the radio feed of the game. (Your mileage may vary, but I've been told you do not have to be in the local broadcast area to take advantage of this option.)
If you have Sirius/XM Radio, you can listen to the game by tuning in to online channel 804 for the Panthers' feed.
TV Replays
NFL Network will re-air the Panthers/Steelers game twice.
Friday 9/4 at 8 p.m.
Sunday 9/6 at 1 p.m.
These replays will probably be the condensed version of the game, but it's better than nothing.
Weather
The weather could be a factor in this game. The current forecast calls for a low of 66° and a high of 88° with 5 mph WNW winds and 50% chance of precipitation and PM thunderstorms. As always, the weather is subject to change, so if you're interested you can keep up with the weather forecast here.
