Shaq Thompson: The Play-Maker

Thomas Davis take the podium and shows what this locker room is all about, character and defense. Welcome to the Carolina Panthers Shaq Thompson. When the pick was first selected ill admit it took a minute to sink in, but once I started thinking deeply about it. It makes a lot of sense and I'm surprised a few other teams didn't take a similar approach. Our war room looked at the players available and said, this guy fits the way we play and what we want to do. What is that you may be asking? The panthers defense likes the get into a nickle formation with a hybrid player in the slot. We did it and failed last year with Colin Jones and Charles Godfrey. I think putting someone like Shaq Thompson in the nickle will give us an ability to play zone, blitz, and stop the run, oh and did I mention that his guy is just one of those guys who makes plays? You can't have enough play makers on defense.

This guy does "it" (whatever it is) wherever you need him to. In 2014 he rushed for two TDs, 3 fumbles recovered for TDs, and 1 int for a TD while still forcing 2 fumbles and getting a sack and some tackles for a loss. You hear about guys having a nose for the ball, this guys embodies that fully. He can play special teams, he can play LB, he can play SS, he can play RB. This guy gets to be Sean McDermott's new wildcard. I am excited to see him in our system and hope he can cover at the next level, it's a good sign that he has spent his college career doing whatever was asked of him. I can't wait for him to make some plays for us. LETS GET READY FOR DAY 2, could we trade up for La'el Collins?
