Panthers Sign LB Jason Trusnik

The former Dolphin and eight year vet has been signed onto the Panthers today. It is a one year deal, my guess is to replace Chase Blackburn. He is a run-stuff specialist with a hand in special teams. Although he is a little bit older, going on 30, at 6' 4" 252lbs he has played in all 16 games during the last 4 seasons. He also logged his second highest career tackle total at 49 this last season.

I think he will work well as a special teams player, and will probably beat out Ben Jacobs for the 2nd LB spot. It is nice to see the organization addressing key problems with solid players. With this depth signing it would be interesting to see if we still go after a strong LB in the 3rd or 4th rounds during this years draft.

Expect a "NFL Game Rewind" article on him soon. His real place on the team will be determined from how much of his production came through Special Teams or Defensive situations. P.S. he managed to get an interception last season, that's always a nice consolation.
