The Carolina Panthers recently met with free agent offensive tackle Michael Oher, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. The former first round pick was released by the Tennessee Titans only one year into a four year contract he signed last offseason.
Oher would be a stopgap solution at the offensive tackle position. The 28-year old has the ability to play both right and left tackle, although he graded poorly at right tackle with the Titans in 2014, giving up six sacks, four quarterback hits and 26 quarterback hurries in 11 games.
Signing Oher would be a classic Gettleman move. The "need" at tackle would be addressed in the short term, and the Panthers would still have the option of taking another tackle as BPA in the Draft.
