The Seattle Seahawks have placed 2013 rookie seventh round right tackle Michael Bowie on the waiver wire with a "waived/injured" designation.
Bowie, 6'4" 334lb, started 9 games for the Seahawks last year, including the Divisional playoff win against the Saints. Some outlets were considering Bowie a long shot, but not out of the realm of possibility, for 2013 Rookie of the Year. He had one of the best years of all the rookie offensive lineman who were forced to start games in their rookie season, and graded out as a plus run blocker. Bowie could be a very solid offensive tackle for a long time if he can bounce back from this injury to his shoulder.
With the Panthers starters and depth unsettled to say the least, Bowie could be a great stash on I.R. to compete for a starting position in 2015.
Dave Gettleman "lost" Tyler Gaffney through this process, and many fans were vocal with their disapproval. Gettleman now has an opportunity to turn the tides and acquire a player that could greatly benefit the Carolina Panthers for years to come.
Bowie will clear waivers at 4:00pm on Sunday. Should Dave Gettleman break the "unwritten rule" and acquire Michael Bowie?
