The Over/Under Game - Points Allowed

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Our Carolina Panthers have come a long way in terms of points allowed in the Ron Rivera era. Let's see where you all think we'll fall at this year.

The following are the average points per game allowed for the last 3 seasons:

2011: 26.8 (26th)
2012: 22.7 (18th)
2013: 15.1 (2nd)

While the majority of this number is based on our defense (especially the front 6/7 group), a good amount of this total is attributable to offense and special teams. In 2013, we finished +11 in turnover ratio and had no INTs or fumbles returned for TDs. Our special teams had no returns for TDs and did a great job of maintaining field position.

That said, the majority of this is about defense. We have question marks about the early availability of Greg Hardy. We have a lot of new faces in the secondary. But we still have a healthy Charles Johnson in his prime. We have Star Lotulelei and Kawann Short back for their 2nd year at DT. And we still have Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis as monster players at LB.

15 points allowed per game is a low, low number for points allowed. But this defense is set with some great pieces. And... Seattle just had back-to-back season at 15 points per game allowed or lower... So it can be done.

So, I'm setting the line at 15.5 points per game (248 total points) allowed, CSR....

Are you taking the Over..... or the Under???

As always.... let us know what you think in the comments!
