Cam Newton gave a fan a very special gift on Monday at training camp when he removed his cleats, signed them and walked off the Wofford practice field in his socks.
Panthers practice was wrapping up when Newton spied long-time Panthers fan Brian Cooper among the throngs of fans looking for autographs. The Pro Bowl quarterback walked over, took off his cleats and signed one before giving both of them to Brian as a gift. Cam wished him well, then covered the rest of the distance to the locker room in just his socks.
Even Peter King who's had run ins with Cam in the past following his infamous "icon and entertainer" prior to the 2011 draft managed to notice the goodwill gesture.

<<< Cam takes off both shoes, autographs one, hands shoes to young man, greets him, wishes him well, walks on in socked feet. Man beams.

That's our quarterback folks. It's not expected that many people outside the Carolinas will get it, but we've got a special one -- even if that's not touted nationally all the time.
