The Panthers have had a bit of an up and down offseason. Highlighting the ups was DeAngelo Williams giving his first class seat up to (who he thought at the time was) a US Marine. Leading the charge for the lows is Greg Hardy's domestic abuse case. The Panthers have had stories from both ends of the spotlight spectrum. Luckily, the latest one the public will learn about will be a wonderful plus, not only for the team, but for the 6 year old boy whose dream came true thanks to Newton and the Panthers.
I just want to take a moment to say something I think we all know, but it bears repeating. Far too many in the sports world, be it journalists or fans have the wrong idea about Cam Newton. When they hear his name, the immediate thoughts are those of unwarranted disgust and/or memories of stolen laptops and "fake smiles". Now, I have a feeling none of that really affects Newton personally all that much, however it is something we Carolina Panther fans have to constantly battle. They don't see the man who has his own foundation meant to help out young kids, or the time he has spent in the community. It is my hope, that with more stories like this, more people will see Cam Newton for who he really is: simply a good guy. You can view the SportsCenter special here.
We here at CSR wish the best for George Gring as he now in remission after treatment. Keep Pounding buddy!!!
