Greg Hardy domestic violence trial begins in Charlotte

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The Panthers defensive end begins his trial in Charlotte on Tuesday for domestic violence.

Greg Hardy's trial for domestic violence will begin Tuesday morning in Charlotte and like most legal proceedings it could take a while before we have any answers.

The biggest question will be whether Nicole Holder, Hardy's ex-girlfriend will testify against the Panthers defensive end. She did not appear at a appears at a trial to award a restraining order but was subpoenaed to appear in court Tuesday morning. It will be almost impossible for the district attorney to secure a conviction without her testimony and it's unclear if she will.

Proceedings are scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. Hardy has already entered the courtroom along with agent Drew Rosenhaus and a friend of Hardy's, Sammy Curtis who was at the defensive end's apartment when the alleged assault took place.

The trial could end in hours or days, depending on the amount of evidence that can be presented by either side. Then, hopefully, discussion of Hardy can return to football -- regardless of the outcome.
